Approach & techniques

The methods I draw on, described plainly.

Eclectic approach

Tailored and Eclectic approach using evidence based therapies: ACT, DBT, REBT, MBCT, MET

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A practical, structured approach that looks at how thoughts, feelings and behaviour feed each other — and experiments with small, testable changes.

Person-centred counselling

A warm, non-judgemental space where you set the direction. The relationship itself — empathy, honesty, regard — is considered central to change.

Solution-focused brief therapy

For when you want to focus on what to do next rather than why it started: small goals, exceptions to the problem, and concrete next steps.

Mindfulness-based techniques

Simple attention and grounding practices used alongside conversation, to work with rumination, stress and sleep.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Building psychological flexibility — noticing difficult thoughts and feelings without being ruled by them, and acting on what genuinely matters to you.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Acceptance joined with change — skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness, especially useful when feelings are intense.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

Looking at the rigid beliefs that keep distress going, and challenging them with more realistic, flexible thinking — paired with practical action.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

A structured course in mindfulness practices, originally developed to help prevent depressive relapse by changing how one relates to low mood.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)

A short, structured way to strengthen your own motivation for change — useful when you feel ambivalent about starting or continuing with healthier behaviour.
